Netizens demand boycott of Alia Bhatt on Twitter, here is why

Mumbai: Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt is now going through warmth on Twitter after netizens accused her of selling home violence towards males in her upcoming Netflix movie Darlings. #BoycottAliaBhatt has been trending since this morning on the micro-blogging web site.

Darlings is a black comedy drama movie, co-written and directed by Jasmeet Okay. Reen. It is going to stream on Netflix from Friday, August 5. The movie options Alia within the position of a home abuse survivor named Badrunissa Shaikh, alongside Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew amongst others. Aside from taking part in the lead position, Alia has additionally co-produced it with Shah Rukh Khan’s Pink Chillies Leisure.

The trailer of Darlings, which exhibits Alia kidnapping her husband and torturing him, has left netizens livid who declare that the film is glorifying home violence towards males.

One social media person wrote, “Even males are the victims of home abuse and in no world, we will normalise that.” One other wrote, “#BoycottAliaBhatt who’s endorsing DV on Males. Think about if the genders have been reversed!”
